Q. Do I need to purchase a share to join?
A: A Share purchase is required if the primary member joining is over the age of 30. This Share purchase can be done through a one-time payment or through a two-year payment plan. There are also a limited number of Associate memberships available, but Associate members pay a premium relative to regular Shareholder dues.
Q. I am under the age of 31. When do I need to purchase a Share?
A: If you are under the age of 31, you are able to join Highlands without purchasing a Share. Once you reach the age of 31, you are required to purchase a Share through equal yearly payments up until and including the age of 40.
Q. How much does it cost to join as a Shareholder?
A: The current joining fee is $10,000 + GST for the Share and Transfer Fee. The Shareholder is also responsible for all regular yearly Shareholder membership dues and other Shareholder commitments.
Q: What are details of the Shareholder Flex Pass model?
A: This is a new Shareholder category, giving added flexibility to the Shareholder. The Shareholder has the option of receiving 45 rounds for the year, rather than the traditional unlimited golf model. These passes can be used for the Shareholders rounds as well as for any guest rounds. The passes are not transferable. Any unused passes can be carried forward but must be used by the end of the following May. The Shareholder Flex Pass member pays the same membership dues and fees as a regular Shareholder, while also receiving the same access and booking privileges.
Q: How many members does the Club have?
A: Highlands currently has 419 Shareholders. In addition to the Shareholder members, Highlands also offers a number of other membership categories including as examples Spouses, Intermediates (19-30 years old), Juniors, and Pee Wee categories. These categories make up another approximate 230 members and these individuals have various restrictions to when they can play.
Q: Are there payment plans available for the regular annual member dues?
A: The Club offers three different membership dues payment plan options: 20% deposit due January 15 with the remaining 80% due March 31; 6-equal monthly payments from November-April (paid in full by April 15); 12-equal monthly payments from November-October with a surcharge equal to Canada's Prime Lending rate (due in full by October 15). A member joining during the year can still be on a payment plan but would be required to catch-up for any prior installments.
Q: What type of young member incentitive programs do you offer?
A: New junior and Intermediate age ranges have recently been added, and playing privileges have been increased. Once you join Highlands, the club offers financial incentives for members transitioning from one age category into the next. This can be up to a 40% discount on your yearly fees. For each year of consecutive active membership until the age of 30, the member will also receive a 10% discount on the share purchase transfer fee, up to a 100% discount on the transfer fee.
Q: Do you offer corporate memberships?
A: The Club offers a limited number of Corporate Shares. These Shares must be purchased through the Club. The Corporate Share and Transfer Fee is currently $20,000 + GST. Each year there can be 1-4 active players under the Corporate Share, and these players can change each year prior to the start of the golf season. All players on the Share will receive regular Shareholder playing privileges (no restrictions) and are each required to pay the regular yearly Shareholder membership dues.
Q: Do you offer family memberships?
A: The Club offers reasonably priced spousal, junior and pee wee memberships as well as a family membership option.
Q: What spousal memberships are offered?
A: We have two spousal categories. Our regular Spousal membership has some restrictions on tee access and a Restricted Play Spousal membership is available with additional restrictions.
Q: What practice facilities are available?
A: We do not have a full driving range, however we do have hitting nets, putting green and a 150-yard practice hole available to reserve or to use casually when available. We also have two state of the art virtual golf simulators. These have various courses from around the world, interactive driving range and practice sessions, as well as full swing and ball flight analysis capabilities. We have also arranged discounts for members at various driving ranges in the Edmonton area. The club is currently working with the City of Edmonton on a proposed short game practice area, but at this point, an estimated construction date is not known.
Q: Do you have any reciprocal partners?
A: We have reciprocal arrangements with over 850 golf courses in 50 different countries across the world, many of which include no charge green fees. These are accessible to all Highlands members in good standing.
Q: What is the length of the course?

Q: What type of events does the Club offer for its members?
A: The Club offers many different golf and social events. In additional to regular lunch hours through the winter, we also offer a Friday night Happy Hour with live entertainment as well as a weekend brunch menu. The golf season has a wide range of dining and entertainment events as well as golf events focused on women, men and juniors. There are two weekly ladies leagues (Wednesday from 3:00-3:30 p.m. and 5:15-5:45 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00-10:00 a.m.), a Tuesday morning senior men's league, a Thursday night men's league, and a weekly junior league.
Q: How often can I bring guests to play or dine?
A: Members are encouraged to entertain guests either on the golf course or in the clubhouse. Guests are limited to a maximum eight rounds of golf per season. Guests are welcome to dine in the clubhouse as often as they would like. Members are able to bring up to three guests at any time during the week but there are restrictions on the number of guests allowed during specific times on weekends and holidays.
Q: What is the Golf Club Improvement Fee?
A: Our Shareholders approved a new Long-Range Plan in July 2023. This work includes the renovation of the tee boxes on Hole #10 and the renovation of Hole #12, both of which were completed in 2024, a proposed short game practice area, as well as a significant clubhouse renovation including an expansion of our kitchen and patio, which is being completed from the fall of 2024 until the spring of 2025. The work under this Long-Range Plan is being financed by all members aged 19+, with monthly capital fees ranging from $22.50 per month to $67.50 per month depending on the membership category.
